Here are some helpful tips to make the most of your visit to SUMMIT One Vanderbilt:
1. Plan Ahead
- Buy Tickets in Advance: Tickets often sell out, especially during peak times like sunset. Book online to secure your preferred time slot.
- Time Your Visit: For the best lighting and views, aim for sunset. This way, you’ll experience the city during daylight, golden hour, and as the lights of Manhattan come alive.
2. What to Wear
- Avoid Skirts or Dresses: The mirrored floors can create reflections, which might make some visitors uncomfortable. Pants or shorts are a safer option.
- Comfortable Shoes: You’ll do some walking and standing, so wear shoes you’ll feel good in for a few hours.
- Layer Your Clothing: The outdoor terraces can be chilly, especially during cooler months.
3. What to Bring (and Not Bring)
- Travel Light: Bags larger than 12”x12” are not allowed, and there is no coat or bag check. Stick to small backpacks or purses.
- Camera/Phone: Bring a fully charged device for photos. The views and mirrored spaces are Instagram-worthy!
- Sunglasses: The mirrored rooms can be very bright during the day, so sunglasses can make it more comfortable.
4. Experience Tips
- Explore Every Space: Don’t rush through! Each area offers something unique, from the infinity mirrors in "Air" to the glass skyboxes in "Levitation."
- Try "Ascent": If you’re not afraid of heights, the glass elevator ride adds a thrilling perspective at 1,210 feet.
- Take Your Time: Allocate 1-2 hours to fully enjoy the experience, including time for photos and a drink at the Summit Lounge.
5. Best Photo Opportunities
- The Mirror Rooms: Get creative with reflections to capture surreal photos.
- Levitation Skyboxes: Step into the glass boxes for stunning shots of Manhattan below.
- Outdoor Terrace: Use the open-air terrace for unobstructed skyline views, especially at sunset or night.
6. Accessibility and Safety
- Accessibility: SUMMIT is wheelchair-friendly, and staff are available to assist if needed.
- Safety Considerations: Some areas, like the glass floors and mirrored walls, can feel disorienting, so take your time if you’re prone to vertigo.
7. Additional Tips
- Arrive Early: Arrive at least 15-20 minutes before your scheduled time for security and check-in.
- Hydrate: SUMMIT is at a high altitude, and the experience can be physically stimulating. Stay hydrated before and during your visit.
- Check the Weather: The best views require clear skies. If it’s foggy or rainy, consider rescheduling if possible.

Visiting SUMMIT One Vanderbilt can be a splurge, but there are a few budget-friendly options and tips to help you enjoy the experience without breaking the bank:
1. Choose the Right Ticket Option
- Standard Admission: The basic ticket gives you access to the mirrored rooms, observation decks, and outdoor terraces without the premium add-ons like the glass elevator "Ascent." This is the most affordable way to enjoy SUMMIT.
- Ticket Prices:
- Adults: ~$42 (Standard Admission)
- Kids (6-12): ~$35
- Children under 5: Free
- Ticket Prices:
- Off-Peak Tickets: Visit during weekdays, mornings, or non-peak seasons when ticket prices are generally lower.
2. Skip the Add-Ons
- No "Ascent" Glass Elevator: While thrilling, skipping the "Ascent" ride can save you $20-30 per ticket.
- No Premium Experience Packages: Avoid special packages that include extras like cocktails or VIP access if you're sticking to a budget.
3. Combine with Discounts
- NYC Tourist Passes: Look into passes like the New York CityPASS, Go City Explorer Pass, or the New York Pass, which often include SUMMIT One Vanderbilt as one of their attractions. If you're visiting multiple landmarks, this can save you money.

5. Plan Around Free or Cheaper Alternatives Nearby
- After your visit, explore Bryant Park, Grand Central Terminal, or the New York Public Library—all iconic locations that are free to enter and just a short walk from SUMMIT. These can round out your day without additional costs.
6. Photo Opportunities Without Paying Extra
- Take Your Own Photos: Avoid paying for official photos taken by the staff. Use your own camera or smartphone to capture plenty of incredible shots.
